Grizzly Grizzly is proud to present Allison Reimus, INSIDE.
Allison Reimus’ paintings utilize color and motif as a vehicle to explore the psychology of the domestic interior. A 2009 graduate of American University’s MFA program, her work addresses elements of the decorative through the use of graphic and painterly techniques. Reimus’ is the 2009 recipient of the Crisp-Ellert Prize and has most recently exhibited at Nudashank and School 33 Art Center, both located in Baltimore, MD. She is to be featured in New American Paintings, No. 88, South Edition, later this year.
Reimus’ work references the domestic interior, the human psyche and the act of painting. Her fascination with ornamentation and its purpose within the domestic interior has driven her to make paintings that simultaneously question the notions of painting as decorative object and also as an idea, capable of transforming a surface into something other than what can be defined by its physical properties.
Opening on March 5th from 6 to 9 pm
